About Us

Murmuration Community Therapy CIC is a Bristol-based community interest company offering therapeutic support, group work, and community-based mental health initiatives for parents of disabled and neurodivergent children. Our approach is IFS-informed, with a strong emphasis on cultivating self-compassion. We currently run around 8 x 8-week courses per year, plus monthly drop-ins and a dedicated event, Navigation and Nurture, for parents of profoundly disabled children.

Funded mainly by the National Lottery, we are now seeking to strengthen our long-term sustainability and move towards becoming a commissioned mental health service.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced fundraising professional to work with us for one day per month over 1 year, helping us to:

  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to diversify our income

  • Identify and apply for grants and trusts aligned with our mission and values

  • Support the development of relationships with funders and stakeholders

  • Provide light-touch monitoring, evaluation, and reporting guidance to strengthen bids

  • Potentially explore opportunities for local authority commissioning and partnerships

About You

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has a strong track record in fundraising for small charities or CICs, particularly in the mental health, disability, or community wellbeing sectors

  • Understands the challenges and opportunities for grassroots organisations

  • Can work independently with limited hours while building a strong relationship with our team

  • Shares our values of compassion, inclusivity and care

  • Is strategic, practical, and can help us move towards commissioning readiness

What We Offer

  • Flexible, freelance role (1 day per month) with scope for you to input into how the day is structured

  • Opportunity to be part of a compassionate, values-driven organisation making a tangible difference in Bristol communities

  • Potential for an ongoing role beyond the initial 12 month contract, funding dependent

Person Specification

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of successful fundraising in the charity or CIC sector.

  • Strong knowledge of UK funding streams, including trusts, foundations, and statutory funding.

  • Ability to develop and implement a fundraising strategy for a small organisation.

  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience preparing high-quality funding bids.

  • Understanding of monitoring and evaluation requirements for funders.

  • Ability to work independently and manage limited time effectively.

  • Commitment to Murmuration Community Therapy’s values of inclusivity, accessibility, compassion, and community care.

Desirable

  • Experience securing funding within the fields of mental health, disability, or community wellbeing.

  • Understanding of the commissioning landscape, particularly in Bristol and the South West.

  • Knowledge of Community Interest Companies and their funding opportunities/challenges.

  • Established networks with funders, local authorities, or community partners.

  • Experience supporting organisations through a transition towards commissioning readiness.
